Timothy Weah, Celtic and the latest Charly Musonda - but where next for the PSG starlet?

It's been a busy day of developments in the ongoing transfer saga that is Timothy Weah 's future.

Reports in France have claimed both that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sell the 19-year-old and and that Crystal Palace, Rennes and a third unnamed club are leading the race for his services.

The American international arrived at Celtic to a fair amount of fanfare, for two main reasons - namely the fact he was coming from PSG, a huge club, and the fact he was George Weah's son.

There was no doubting his pedigree either but despite a decent start, Weah's spell at Parkhead quickly went off the rails.

Whatever happened to Charly Musonda, the Celtic flop who was tipped for the top?

He won't thank us for it, but it's worth pointing out there are a number of parallels with Charly Musonda - another player who arrived on loan from a big club with great expectations.

Musonda's loan spell from Chelsea flopped dramatically as he made just eight appearances for Celtic and slipped rapidly down Brendan Rodgers’ pecking order.

Weah has also struggled to nail down a place, making just four starts since joining in January.

With Musonda, there were reports of a lack of focus and a huge off-field entourage having a distracting effect for him.

The reason Timo Weah was NEVER going to accept Celtic's World Cup compromise

It culminated with him being dumped just four months into what was meant to be an 18-month spell with the Hoops

And again, Weah's spell has ended somewhat in ignominy after a club-versus-country row ended his time with the Premiership champions.

Weah rejected a compromise deal that would allow him to play in the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts and then join up with the USA squad immediately afterwards.

As a result, Neil Lennon asked him to pack his bags earlier this week and once more a promising young player, of whom much was expected on arrival, has left through the back door with the club pushing them on their way.

There is still plenty of interest in Weah's services though - and it will be interesting to see where he pitches up.
