Timothy Fosu-Mensah celebrates his birthday with three Manchester United teammates

Timothy Fosu-Mensah celebrated his birthday with three Manchester United teammates on Thursday night.

The Dutch defender turned 22 this week as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury which has kept him out of action since April last year.

Fosu-Mensah will be looking to make an impact on the first-team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once he returns to fitness, and he had extra reason to celebrate with his birthday this week.

The 22-year-old was joined by Axel Tuanzebe, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly on Thursday as the quartet celebrated his special day with a meal out at Italian restaurant San Carlo where they were joined by other friends and relatives.

Fosu-Mensah last featured for United on the final day of the 2016/17 season but is relishing the possibility of representing the club again this season.

“I'm going to be 22,” he told manutd.com earlier in the week.

“I made my debut when I was 18 so time flies. It waits for no-one. I've just got to keep going and keep improving. When I think about it, it goes very quickly - it's almost four years now [since my first game].

“I think my spell at Fulham was a bit more difficult for me but I had a good time at Palace. When I was there, I became an international at the age of 19, which is also a big achievement for myself. I think it has been good for me because I'm more mature straight away and it was physically good as well."
