Timothy Castagne’s father has admitted his son could have joined Tottenham Hotspur after signing for Leicester City on Thursday.
The Foxes announced the signing of the Belgian full-back from Atalanta earlier in the week, but his father revealed that it could’ve been very different.
Spurs were in the market for a new right-back following the departure of Kyle Walker-Peters, and the uncertainty over Serge Aurier’s future.
However, Spurs announced the signing of Wolves defender Matt Doherty at the end of August to massively bolster their options.
Castagne’s father revealed that his son could have chosen to join Jose Mourinho’s side rather than team up with Brendan Rodgers.
But it appears that Spurs would have had to offload Aurier before they could match the offer that the Foxes made for the Belgian.
He said, per reports: "He conducted a video conference with Jose Mourinho but Tottenham had to sell Serge Aurier first.
"With a little more money, they could have made an offer like Leicester.”
Castagne is a versatile defender, who can play either right-back or left-back, and may well play on the left side for the Foxes - who have just sold Ben Chilwell.
