Timothy Castagne in brutal Arsenal slapdown as former Celtic target only has eyes for one Premier League team

Ambitious Timothy Castagne reckons Arsenal are yesterday's news after he shot down reports of a potential switch to the Gunners.

The 24-year-old was once on Celtic 's signing radar and he was Brendan Rodgers and Lee Congerton's No.1 transfer target with a reported £8m bid being turned down by Atalanta in 2019.

And the Belgium international has only added to his burgeoning reputation over the past 18 months with the rampaging wing back key to the Serie A upstarts' run to the last eight of the Champions League.

Castagne is expected to command a fee upwards of £20m this summer and the likes of Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on securing his services.

But any chance over a switch to the Emirates appears unlikely after he admitted he would prefer the chance to star for their fierce rivals Tottenham.

Speaking to La Derniere Heure, he said: "I think the time has come to move on, but I won't be disappointed if I stay,

"I'm very proud of this. It's proof that hard work pays off. I hope it's more than just simple interest from (interested teams).

"I was especially a fan when Thierry Henry played for (Arsenal). Now I'm not so much.

"You have to be honest with yourself. When a team like PSG or Tottenham come knocking on your door, you can't say 'no'."
