You’d be forgiven if you thought Susan Boyle actually had a role in Timothée Chalamet’s new film Marty Supreme, given how involved she’s been in the promotional tour.
The 64-year-old Britain’s Got Talent winner first became associated with the film when Chalamet name-dropped her in an interview with the BBC earlier this month. The Oscar-nominee was asked to name which Brits he thought would be worthy of wearing a jacket bearing the film’s title, and he listed off Lewis Hamilton, David and Victoria Beckham, and of course, Boyle.
“She dreamt bigger than all of us,” he said, being completely serious as he raved about her viral audition on the talent show in 2009.
“Who wasn’t moved by that? I remember that like it was yesterday,” he continued. “That was like the advent of YouTube, you know.”

Susan Boyle’s response to Timothée Chalamet’s comments
A day after the BBC interview was published, Boyle reposted Chalamet’s comments on Instagram and admitted she was “very flattered” by his kind words.
“Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me,” she wrote.
“We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big! I wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream. Thank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly.”
The love-fest continued when Chalamet followed through on his word and sent Boyle her very own Marty Supreme jacket.
“Thanks so much for the kind words once again Timothée,” she told the BBC after receiving the gift. “All the very best for the film, looking forward to seeing it on Boxing Day and thanks for the jacket, it fits like a glove!”

Surprise birthday gift
If you thought that would be the end of the pair’s online interactions, you’d be wrong. To celebrate Chalamet’s 30th birthday on Saturday, the film studio behind Marty Supreme, A24, posted a video of Boyle serenading him.
“Timothée, have a wonderful 30th,” she said. “All the best, love, Susan.”
Chalamet is yet to respond to the birthday message, but let’s hope he says something soon because I seriously cannot get enough of these two interacting.
Boyle isn’t the only celeb who’s been gifted a Marty Supreme jacket, with Justin Bieber, Tom Brady, Frank Ocean, Timothée’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner and her mum Kris all rocking the merch.
The film has received widespread acclaim since its release in the US and UK this week, and Chalamet is tipped to land his third Academy Award nomination for his role.
The only question is who he will bring as his date to the awards ceremony: Jenner or Boyle?
