Timo Werner to Chelsea: Blues still behind Liverpool and Man United in transfer race

Chelsea are still behind Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner this summer, according to the bookmakers.

The 24-year-old striker has had a superb season for the German side, having netted 21 Bundesliga goals and adding another four in the Champions League as well.

It has made the Germany international one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League.

Werner could cost any potential buyer around £50million this summer if they want to pry him away from Germany.

According to Betfair, punters still have Chelsea behind in the race to sign Werner, behind United and Liverpool, plus Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Betfair spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom said: "Reports today suggest that the highly sought-after Timo Werner is now on the radar of Manchester United and Chelsea. However, punters have been heavily backing Liverpool to capture his signature for some time, and the Merseyside club are still the huge favourites to do so at 4/9.

“Manchester United are currently the joint second-favourites along with Spanish giants, Barcelona at 6/1, while Chelsea are way down the list at 11/1 to sign the German forward.”
