Timo Werner sends message to Chelsea fans ahead of Liverpool clash

Timo Werner insists he is 'getting better and better' amid a difficult start to life at Chelsea.

The Germany international joined the Blues on a £47.6million deal from RB Leipzig in the summer and he arrived wit plenty of excitement over his potential with Liverpool also interested at the time.

But despite getting off to a sharp start, he has largely found it difficult to find consistency this season, criticised for missed chances and a lack of goals, despite managing 10 so far across all competitions and mainly from out wide having been moved out of the striker role at Stamford Bridge.

Under new boss and fellow countryman Thomas Tuchel, however, Werner appears to have been given a fresh start and a fresh confidence boost.

And the 24-year-old insists he is getting better with more Premier League experience, telling BBC Sport ahead of Chelsea 's clash with Liverpool this evening: "You can always learn more from the bad situations.

"I learned to trust in myself, to give everything on the pitch, not only think about goals and fight for the team.

"Now I hope this period is gone and I score a few more goals until the end of the season. A lot of good strikers come to the Premier League and take one year to settle down and adapt.

"I think my form is going up and getting better and better. Maybe this year is not the year of goal scoring for Timo but at the end I will reflect on the season.

"I have learned a lot. I know exactly the teams we play against, how they play."

Werner also spoke about head coach Tuchel and why the former PSG boss's vocal style actually helps motivate him.

"I can talk to him very easily," added the forward. "When he screams on the pitch, no problem for me. I need types of managers who scream at me. It gives me more power."

Werner has already started six times under Tuchel and could well be in line for a seventh against Liverpool dispute staring off the bench last time out against Manchester United.
