Timo Werner's new RB Leipzig contract includes very low release clause

Timo Werner has signed a new this week with Red Bull Leipzig , however it has been revealed that his contract includes a surprisingly low release clause.

The German international had been linked with moves to reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Champions League winners Liverpool over the summer.

It looked as though either club could sign him on a free transfer next summer had he not agreed a new four-year deal in Leipzig.

The 23-year-old joined Leipzig back in 2016 from Stuttgart and has been a stand-out performer for the Die Bullen, forming a formidable partnership with Denmark's Yussuf Poulsen.

According to Kicker, his new contract includes a release clause of just €30 million.

The low release clause likely explains his change of heart when it came to penning the new deal as any top club would be able to afford it.

And the likes of Liverpool, who have had a long standing interest, will be more that willing to use their funds to pry him into the Premier League.

Signing the striker for that price would be a steal for whatever club decides to pay as Werner possesses great talent and that is represented in his stats.

Since joining Leipzig three years ago, Werner has made 117 appearances in all competitions and has scored an impressive 63 goals and has made 28 assists.

Werner also has a stellar international record so far, scoring 10 goals in 25 games for his country.

In the opening two games of the season he has hit the ground running, scoring twice in as many games and has helped Leipzig to a strong start.
