Timo Werner's admission which is fantastic news for Chelsea and Liverpool

Premier League clubs have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Timo Werner after the forward opened on why his next club won’t be in Germany.

Reports began to surface last week claiming that Bayern Munich had stolen a march in the race for Werner and were on course to secure his signature in the upcoming window.

Prior to that the forward had been heavily linked with a summer move to Premier League leaders Liverpool, while Chelsea are also believed to be interested in the 24-year-old.

And those clubs have now been handed a boost after the RB Leipzig man has admitted he would prefer to move abroad instead of a switch to Bavaria.

"Bayern is a great club, we don't need to talk about it, and Hansi Flick has proven this season that he's a really good head coach," he told German publication Sport Bild via the Star.

"But if a change should ever become an issue, I would rather take a step abroad than switch to Bavaria.

“It's just that the challenge in another league would appeal to me a little more than a change within the Bundesliga.

"And of course it also plays a role that the mutual appreciation should be there to the maximum.

"That's why I chose RB Leipzig at the time, and because of that, I would choose the club again in my next step, which would give me that feeling."
