Timo Werner predicted to join Liverpool - but two players are 'set to leave'

Liverpool great Jan Molby is confident Timo Werner will end up at Anfield this summer, but reckons some players will go the other way.

The RB Leipzig forward has been heavily linked with a switch to the Reds.

His 27 goals in all competitions have put him firmly in the shop window and Molby sees the German as a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp's side.

The lack of attacking depth has previously been cited as a potential weakness for the Premeir League champions elect.

And while Werner would prove a worthy addition Molby reckons several players will be on their way out.

He said on YouTube: "Yes I do [think Werner will come]. I don't think there's going to be an awful lot of transfers happening this forthcoming summer, but I think that in many ways suits Liverpool.

"They've got a very strong squad at the moment. There will be one or two players leave, but we've got some young players that need to be introduced into the squad.

"So if Liverpool cannot spend any money I don't think it will be a big problem.

"Timo Werner eventually I think will come. I think his preferred choice is Liverpool.

"Also when I look at him, he is a top, top player, but I couldn't see him playing for Barcelona because they play in a different way, they play possession-based football. That is not his game. His game is exactly what we are all about."

Liverpool's high tempo game is a Klopp trademark and Werner's qualities would suit that.

The Reds could also be without Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for a period next season due to the Africa Cup of Nations, although that could yet be postponed.
