Timo Werner odds-on to complete Chelsea transfer as Liverpool drop to second favourites

Chelsea have become the bookmaker's favourite to land Timo Werner in the upcoming transfer window this summer.

The Blues are moving nearer to signing the German after pushing ahead of Liverpool in the queue to sign one of the most highly-coveted young forwards in world football.

Sources have told football.london that there is now a "high probability" that Frank Lampard’s side will activate the striker's €55million release clause before it expires on June 15.

While Bild have reported that a deal is done and that Werner will sign a five-year deal worth €10million a year.

Chelsea Q&A with Oliver Harbord

However, football.london has been told that there have been positive negotiations but outstanding details must still be agreed.

But as a result of those reports, and plenty others elsewhere, Werner is now 1/2 to join Chelsea this summer, which works out as the Blues having a 67 percent chance of signing the forward.

That is according to betting trends analysts BonusCodeBets.co.uk, who had Chelsea at 6/4 to sign Werner on Thursday morning.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with the RB Leipzig striker in recent months, who is believed to have a £52m release clause in his contract which is set to expire in June.

However, the ECHO recently revealed that the Reds have not held talks with RB regarding any deal for Werner in the upcoming transfer window.

And now Jurgen Klopp’s side are now priced at 3/1 to land the forward, having previously been long-time favourites to secure his signature.

Werner’s next club odds in full

Chelsea 1/2

Liverpool 3/1

Bayern Munich 10/1

PSG 12/1

Barcelona 16/1

Manchester City 16/1

Manchester United 20/1

Real Madrid 33/1

Newcastle 50/1
