Chelsea receive double injury boost ahead of Liverpool

Chelsea have been handed a boost ahead of their meeting with Liverpool on Sunday.

The Blues kicked off the season with a 3-1 win against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium on Monday night.

Frank Lampard debuted several new arrivals including Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, although he was without several key players for the game due to injury or lack of fitness.

Ben Chilwell missed out due to Achilles problem although Lampard is now hopeful of having him available after providing an update on his injury.

“Ben Chilwell is working towards fitness, he won’t be fit for Brighton, he’s developed and improved and is going in right direction,” the Blues boss said in his pre-match press conference .

Timo Werner names the two big challenges since Chelsea move

Timo Werner has spoken of the biggest challenges he has faced since moving to Chelsea.

Werner, 24, completed a £47.5million move from RB Leipzig on Thursday afternoon and spoke of Frank Lampard’s role in convincing him to join the club.

He also touched on the reported interest from Liverpool, and what are his initial impressions of life in England’s capital.

"The life in London is good, I’ve already got an apartment in the city," he said. "That was really important for me to settle down fast into my own space where I can be after games and training, to feel at home.

"Also the driving, I drive on my own, so that was also a problem at the beginning of course. But now it works very well.

“And now I thank also the people around me the staff, the manager, the players it was a really warm welcome from them.”

Christian Pulisic tipped to be Chelsea’s biggest star this year

Christian Pulisic’s first season at Stamford Bridge saw the American produce an impressive goal return.

He was joined at the club this summer by a trio if new attackers in Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, and it would be easy to forget how good Pulisic’s debut campaign was in the wake of their arrivals.

That’s certainly not the case among Chelsea fans, however, with 45% of them tipping him to be Player of the Year.
