Timo Werner makes major decision over his future as Bayern Munich eye transfer for Chelsea star

Timo Werner will 'reassess his Chelsea future' if he cannot find a route back into Thomas Tuchel's starting XI.

That's according to a fresh report from the Telegraph, who say that the Germany international is concerned about his lack of game time at the Blues so far this season, with Romelu Lukaku 's arrival meaning he has fallen down the pecking order.

Werner has featured five times in the Premier League this season, but Tuchel has only used the 25-year-old from the start on two occasions - most recently, in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend alongside Lukaku. The German forward was an unused substitute in Chelsea's 1-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Werner, as well as Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, with Julian Nagelsmann now in charge at the Allianz Arena.

Nagelsmann worked with Werner during their days at RB Leipzig, and talk of a reunion has been fuelled recently with the striker switching to the Sports360 agency - the same group as his former boss.

Werner only joined Chelsea at the start of last season but has failed to hit the heights expected of him following his £45million move from Leipzig.

He was linked with a move away from the Blues over the summer transfer window, but speaking in May, the German insisted he would not quit after such a short spell in west London.

"Of course," Werner told the Telegraph when asked if he wanted to stay at Chelsea.

"In terms of scoring and missing chances, it was the worst season. But in the end I still have 27 goal contributions.

"I think I’m the first in our team for that, so it was not everything bad and I don’t think about leaving the club this year, for sure not.

"And also for the next year because I think we have a very good team and I hope to come back to scoring and that I can do everything that’s expected of me."

He added: "I think a lot of people’s expectations for me, outside the club but also inside the club, were very high because of my goalscoring record.

"I also assisted many goals last year in my old club, but I think the main reason why they brought me here in the club is to score and maybe at the end 12 goals and six goals in the Premier League, that’s not good enough.

"You have to say that I have 12 goals and 15 assists or something like that in every competition and 27 goal contributions, that’s not so bad in what’s maybe my unluckiest season, maybe my worst season I’ve had for many years.

"If I’m scoring next season, hopefully, maybe people will become happier with me."
