Timo Werner has admitted that he could have joined Liverpool or Manchester United prior to agreeing a move to Chelsea.
The RB Leipzig striker makes his move to Stamford Bridge this week after finalising a transfer to the Blues earlier this month.
His stunning form in the Bundesliga had seen him linked with a number of clubs, with Liverpool often seeming the most likely to sign him.
Whilst Chelsea won the race for his signature, Werner has admitted that he could have moved elsewhere had he wanted to, but that he does not regret his decision one bit.
"Inter, Manchester United and Liverpool wanted me? Yes, I could have gone to these teams too," Werner told Sportbuzzer.
"The best clubs fought for me.
"The entire Chelsea package in the end, however, turned out to be the best in my career. Money played a marginal role.
"For me, money was never a decisive factor, otherwise I could have gone to China.
"Chelsea is a leading club in European football. There is a team of great quality, we want to get to the top. I don’t regret my decision for even a second."
Werner has attracted criticism from some over his decision to join the Blues ahead of the resumption of the Champions League, meaning RB Leipzig will be deprived of one of their key players for the remainder of the competition.
Whilst the striker admits it is a shame he cannot play for his former club, he argues that it stands to reason that he would want to move to Stamford Bridge.
"Of course it hurts me that I can't help out [RB Leipzig] to play in the Champions League," he said. "But I'm a Chelsea FC player from July 1st and I'm being paid by Chelsea from then on.
"It was clear that all parties - Chelsea, RB and my side - should and must settle this.
"Of course I tried to keep out of the Champions League issue as much as I could because it was clear that I would have to hurt one side.
"That's why my agent finally agreed it with the clubs."
