Timo Werner 'keen' on Liverpool transfer over Bayern Munich move says pundit

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is eager to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to one pundit.

Werner's 20 Bundesliga goals in 21 matches this season have seen him touted as a target for Europe's top clubs, with Liverpool seemingly at the front of the queue.

The Germany international has also been linked with a move to defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

But Liverpool have a good relationship with RB Leipzig and that could be instrumental in easing the way for the striker to move to Anfield.

And European football expert Kevin Hatchard reckons Liverpool are the club with the best chance of landing 23-year-old Werner.

“They’re talking about the top end of €60million,” Hatchard told Hawskbee and Jacobs on TalkSport.

“So, for me, for a player of his quality and experience, bearing in mind this is a guy who is in his early to mid-20s and he has played over 200 games in the Bundesliga.

“So vastly experienced already, improving all the time, I think he has really benefited from playing under [RB Leipzig boss] Julien Nagelsmann because he played as an out-and-out striker for pretty much his whole career.

“Nagelsmann has said to him, ‘Look I think you can be much more dangerous playing from a deeper role’.

"So he has almost been playing as an attacking midfielder at times – kind of driving past defences with his pace.

“So he is improving and I think he would do very well in the Premier League.

"He has said on numerous occasions he thinks the Premier League is an exciting prospect and some pretty reliable German media sources are saying that Liverpool are very much one of the clubs who want to sign him and he is keen."

Hatchard added: “Now he was very strongly linked with Bayern for a long time, that seems to have gone away.

"He didn’t push for a move to Bayern and Bayern seemed to have lost interest.

“So I think Liverpool certainly would be very, very prominent in that race to sign him.”
