Timo Werner given big upgrade on Football Manager 2020 as Liverpool rumours continue

Timo Werner is having an outstanding 2019/20 campaign, which has seen him linked with some of the biggest clubs in European football, including Liverpool as a potential destination this summer.

The German striker has scored 21 goals in just 23 league appearances so far this season, also recording seven assists for his teammates, helping his club mount a Bundesliga title challenge, with Leipzig just just one point behind Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old has himself hinted that he would be interested in a move to Anfield, telling  Viasport:"Yes I know that Liverpool is the best team in this moment in the world, and when you are linked with that team it makes me very proud."

As a reward for his sensational form so far this season, Werner has been given a significant upgrade on popular football management simulation game Football Manager 2020, to reflect his updated real-life ability, which could give Reds fans a taste of what they could expect if they signed Werner next season.

Here is how Werner's profile looked when you started a new career on Football Manager 2020's previous database (20.1.0).

As you can see, Werner was a decent striker, but his attributes definitely needed updating based on his form so far this season, with his rather average 14 finishing attribute sticking out as a strange one.

His current ability was 151 out of 200, which is decent, but again needed updating to be more realistic.

Here is how Werner's profile looks like in Football Manager 2020's latest database (20.3.0), with a number of updated attributes.

As you can see, Werner's finishing attribute has been upgraded to a much more realistic 16 out of 20, with the German's marking, tackling, decisions, vision and strength attributes all given upgrades too.

This has also seen his overall current ability increase from 151 to 156 out of 200.

His value has also increased, according to FM 2020, being upped from £32.5 million to £46 million, which seems very reasonable in the current market. But, don't forget, this is how his profile looks at the start of the 2019/20 season, so it's bound to increase depending on his form.
