Timo Werner future intrigue deepens as Liverpool transfer plan mooted

Timo Werner believes he can make the step up to feature for a leading European club as Liverpool were again strongly linked with the RB Leipzig striker.

Werner has become in demand on the strength of an impressive season that has seen him net 27 goals in 35 games in all competitions.

Liverpool have not yet decided whether to make concrete their interest in the 24-year-old, who is believed to have a release clause of around £50m which some reports have suggested expires in April.

Reports in the Mirror have suggested both Barcelona and Inter Milan are now interested in signing Werner, while Bild in Germany have claimed Liverpool could loan the player back to RB Leipzig for a season in a deal similar to that for Naby Keita.

Werner, meanwhile, has again spoken of the possibility of him moving on this summer.

“I think that I have the potential and possibilities to play for a big team," he said, speaking to Sky Sport in Germany.

“I just think there are different procedures (at a big club). When you say that you must become champions, you must go far in the Champions League, and when you must win the cup.

“When you use the word ‘must’, the pressure is completely different and much greater.

"I still have to learn to be 100% there every game and to know that every game is about winning the championship in the end.”

Werner has made no secret of his admiration for Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp in recent weeks.
