Timo Werner could still 'join Liverpool' as RB Leipzig chief drops transfer hint

Timo Werner's future remains far from certain after RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff hinted the striker might favour a move to Liverpool over Bayern Munich this summer.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months and looks set to leave Leipzig this summer after refusing to sign a new deal with the club.

With just a year left on his current contract, the 23-year-old had been expected to remain in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

However, Mintzlaff has opened the door on a potential move elsewhere for Werner, name-dropping Liverpool when insisting Leipzig had no agreement with the Bavarians.

"The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension," he told Sky, cited by BuliNews. "But that could change.

"I don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven’t talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet.
