Times they are a changin' — or are they? Here's what kids did on holidays in the '60s

Still from RetroFocus video of a 1967 This Day Tonight clip in which Peter Luck asks school children what they think of the holidays.

School holidays are on again and there are the usual problems — it's a trying time for motorists and parents, but "beaut" for children.

Or so says ABC reporter Peter Luck in a 1967 segment of This Day Tonight examining the question: What exactly do kids these days get up to on their holidays?

"Do you think school holidays are a waste of time?" he asks children on the playground.

Some children answer in the affirmative, others disagree and one runs away shrieking.

More than one boy says the holidays are too long, while another suggests the lengthy duration could be made more tolerable with a boat: "A speed boat, not any other boat."

Right.

Reckon children today would have similar answers?

See how the past compares.
