Police are probing three knife-related incidents and an attempted murder at a DLR station, which took place hours before one of the biggest mass stabbings in Britain.
Questions remain after a man was charged with attempting to murder someone in east London hours before he allegedly carried out a mass attack on a high-speed train.
Anthony Williams, 32, was arrested on suspicion of 10 counts of attempted murder, one count of actual bodily harm and one count of possession of a bladed article after chaos broke out on an LNER train travelling from Doncaster to London on Saturday.
Witnesses recalled how there was “blood everywhere” as a man with a large knife moved through the busy train.
At least five people who were stabbed during the attack have since been released from hospital.
A hero rail worker who shielded passengers during the knife rampage is understood to now be in a critical but stable in hospital after “undoubtedly saving people’s lives”, police said.

Susan Hall, the leader of the Conservatives in City Hall, told the Standard that there are “very serious questions” surrounding how a man “suspected of attempted murder in east London boarded a train up north?” and questioned why there had not been a manhunt underway.
Cambridgeshire Police have since said three other knife-related incidents in Peterborough, including the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy on Friday, are also being investigated as being linked to the train attack suspect.
