APPROACH TO FREEMAN'S PROPERTY:
* Police gather for a briefing before attending the Porepunkah property where Dezi Freeman is living with his family
* Police drive in a convoy to the property's entrance gate, which is found to be locked
* Five members enter the property on foot while three drive the marked police vehicle to access from a neighbouring property
THE SHOOTOUT:
* Police approach the bus containing Freeman, his wife and young child and explain they are executing a search warrant
* Freeman is informed of the allegations against him, and replies: "Oh, for f***'s sake, what bulls**t"
* Three police members arrive, having gained access from a neighbouring property
* Detective Leading Senior Constable Thompson removes a window on the bus door and begins to enter when Freeman fatally shoots him
* A police member immediately yells "gun" while Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart turns to run and is killed by Freeman
* Freeman is heard repeatedly saying: "I had no choice, I had no choice"
* Freeman's wife Amalia leaves the bus carrying a child and walks towards a river
* Freeman exits the bus carrying a shotgun and takes a firearm and spare magazine from Sen Const de Waart-Hottart
* Freeman repeatedly fires at police, with some unsuccessfully returning fire
* Freeman approaches Sen Const de Waart-Hottart and swears at him before re-entering the bus
* A police member calls out to Det Sen Const Thompson, to which Freeman replies: "F***-ing scum, die in hell, you f***-ing die in f***-ing hell"
* Freeman shoots Det Sen Const Thompson a second time
* Freeman discharges the shotgun towards another police member, causing serious injuries
* Freeman is last seen running into surrounding bushland
* Freeman texts Amalia saying: "Get miles away and keep going. See you in heaven, love"
AFTER FREEMAN'S DISAPPEARANCE:
* Multiple police units arrive to assist about 11am, while the injured officer is taken to hospital
* The deaths of the two officers are confirmed
* Police are extracted and investigations commence
* The coronial investigation is placed on hold until Freeman is killed
TRACKING FREEMAN DOWN:
* In the week leading to March 30, intelligence is received regarding a rural property on Murray River Road at Thologolong
* Covert surveillance of the property is conducted from March 28 and Freeman is identified on March 29
* Victoria Police's Special Operations Group is tasked with Freeman's safe apprehension and arrest
* By 5.43am on March 30, several police vehicles and members attend the property, including a BearCat vehicle and helicopter
* A cordon is established around a shipping container, with Freeman believed to be inside
NEGOTIATIONS AND ENGAGING FREEMAN:
* Attempts to negotiate with Freeman are unsuccessful and gas canisters are fired at the container about 6am
* Freeman is seen wrapped in a doona or blanket and calls police "thugs" and "bullies" who are "just there to hurt him"
* Freeman insists the Porepunkah killings were self-defence and that police had come to "murder" him and his family
* At 6.29am, Freeman is struck in the leg by a lethal foam baton round
* At various points, Freeman yells "cowboys, come and get me" and invites police to "come have a beer with me, and we'll talk about it"
* After two hours of negotiations, gas is deployed into the shipping container
* Freeman emerges and reveals a black handgun, pointing it towards a second arrest team and is heard to discharge it
* Eight SOG members each fire multiple rounds at Freeman, who is struck and falls to the ground
* Trained medics attend to Freeman but his injuries are deemed fatal
