Donald Trump and his equally corrupt friends will never take responsibility for inciting the 2021 January 6 Capitol attacks, but neither will the opposition stop talking about it. Every time Trump has tried to shift blame on the matter or accuse the opposition of involvement, it has been shot down and redirected at him.
One of the most prominent people who has repeatedly criticised Trump and his administration is California Governor Gavin Newsom. Be it his attack on America’s immigrant population or the government shutdown brought by his rejection of necessary healthcare benefits in a funding bill, Newsom has always been vocal about his views on Trump. This time, he is using his voice to call him out on his unfounded claims about the January 6 riots at the United States Capitol that shook the nation.
Taking to Truth Social, his hate-mongering platform of choice, United States President Donald Trump accused the Biden administration of its alleged involvement in the January 6 riots. He insisted that the then US President had placed 274 agents in the crowd, suggesting that they were involved in the attacks. His message for the people, urging a call to action, based on lies he orchestrated, read:
“THE BIDEN FBI PLACED 274 AGENTS INTO THE CROWD ON JANUARY 6. If this is so, which it is, a lot of very good people will be owed big apologies. What a SCAM – DO SOMETHING!!!”
Gavin Newsom didn’t take much time to answer back. He took to X (previously Twitter) to remind everyone that Donald Trump was the President of the United States on January 6, 2021, hinting that the FBI was still under his jurisdiction. Soon, others joined in and called Trump out for his lies. One person noted:
“Trump’s wild claim of 274 FBI agents inciting Jan 6 is pure fiction—debunked by facts. As president, he oversaw the chaos, not Biden. His lies fuel division while he dodges accountability. Time to stop the nonsense and face the truth!”
Others also shared similar opinions. While earlier Newsom’s X posts saw heavily divided opinions, this is one post where a majority of the people sided with him. Is Trump’s hot seat slipping from between the fingers? We’ll have to see.
