'Time to say goodbye' Pontus Jansson's partner issues emotional farewell message

Leeds United have confirmed that Pontus Jansson has signed for Championship rivals Brentford.

The Sweden international has left Elland Road for an undisclosed fee and signed a three-year deal at Griffin Park following reports that his relationship with the club had broken down since the end of the previous season.

Jansson spent three seasons at Leeds , initially arriving on loan in August 2016 before signing a £3.5million permanent deal the following summer.

He would go on to make 120 appearances for the Whites, become a fan favourite with his passionate displays on the pitch.

But that passion has appeared to be his undoing as Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta decided to cut ties with the 28-year-old.

Immediately after his departure was confirmed, Jansson's partner Asa Thornell took to Twitter to issue a goodbye message to the Leeds fans.

"Time to say goodbye...," she tweeted.

"This is where we found life abroad pretty amazing and Pontus fell in love with football again. Whatever the rumours may say, Leeds has from day one felt like home. Thank you for all your support and love, it has been a blast, you are truly exceptional fans!

"Time for a new adventure, keep marching on."
