Chrissy Teigen has dramatically quit Twitter after revealing negative interactions had left her feeling “bruised”.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday night the model and television personality said the social media platform had made her something she’s not before deleting her account.

Teigan, who is married to the singer John Legend, had 13.7 million followers and was known for her witty posts which would often see her trending.

Writing on Twitter, Teigan said: “Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends.

“My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me. I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I’m not.”

Teigan said the platform “no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively,” and it was “time to say goodbye”.

“My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweeters. Please know all I ever cared about was you!!!”

She added: “For years I have taken so many small, 2-follower count punches that at this point, I am honestly deeply bruised.”

Teigan was praised after talking openly about losing her third child, a boy who she named Jack, after a miscarriage last year.

She is known for a number of high-profile Twitter spats - including with former President Donald Trump who called her John Legend’s “ filthy mouthed wife” before she called him a “p**** a** b****”.

Two days ago, Teigen collaborated with Kris Jenner to launch a new brand called Safely - a range of plant-based cleaning products.

The pair were then targeted by trolls online remarking on their appearance.

Teigen responded to some of the tweets, writing: “You guys are truly just mean, I’ll never get over it.”
