A woman has taken to TikTok to call out Discount Tire after the mechanics at her local branch in Houston caused some seriously expensive damage to her car and have since tried to avoid paying out.
Jasmine made a very public complaint against her local Discount Tire garage after her husband brought their truck in to get the tires balanced. “This is a P.S.A. for anyone who goes to Discount Tire.” She begins her video, “Listen up, before you take your vehicle there, especially if your family or your business depends on it like ours does, tag @DiscountTire because they need to see this.”
Jasmine then goes on to explain that, after taking their truck to the garage for what should have been a simple job, the car was returned in a completely unusable state. The engine light came on almost instantly and then the engine shut off and wouldn’t work again.
It turns out that the workers had lifted the car up by the catalytic converter. For those who don’t know, catalytic converters are one of the most expensive and important components of a car and they are not designed to be able to hold the weight of a whole car.

Obviously, upon return it turned out the catalytic converters were completely smashed meaning the vehicle was practically unusable.
Discount Tire drags its feet
Despite the blame clearly being with Discount Tire, the company’s insurance is dragging out the process for an unnecessary length of time. Jasmine and her husband brought their truck to the garage in July, it’s now October. The couple even took the truck back to the dealer to prove that the fault was with Discount Tires.
The couple filed a claim with the insurance company in July and while they initially accepted liability for the damage, they still haven’t paid. Jasmine explains how the insurance representative has been ghosting them and generally wasting time by asking for information they have already given. Insurance companies can be pretty useless sometimes.
It almost seems as if the company is intentionally dragging its feet in hopes the claimants will eventually back off. But Jasmine and her husband use the truck for their renovation business so everyday it’s out of business means they’re losing more money. Frustrated with the time-wasting Jasmine decided to publicly call Discount Tires out.
The people of TikTok were pretty appalled with the shady business practice. Many were dumbfounded by the fact that the mechanics had even managed to mistakenly lift the car by the converters in the first place. Others advised Jasmine to get a lawyer involved, “A simple letter head will get people doing their due diligence,” wrote one viewer.
