Time saving paint hack that requires no masking tape

Depending on how you look at it, painting your home can be a fun, calming task or a complete nightmare.

From paint splatters to uneven finishes, a lot of things can go wrong when you're trying to give your walls a freshen up. As well as being messy, painting is also time consuming and will require a good amount of of taping beforehand to ensure you stay in the lines.

However, the Mirror has stumbled upon one trick by TikTok DIY account @my_neutral_place that requires minimal effort and will save you time and masking tape.

Captioning the post, the user, named Mel, said: "I've been painting today so thought I'd share my favourite time-saving tips! No masking tape required!"

While painting her skirting boards, Mel slid a piece of card underneath the wood so paint would catch onto the paper rather than seeping onto her wooden floorboards.

Then she placed the card alongside a wall's edge to make sure no excess paint would go on the parallel wall - a method usually requiring masking tape.

Finally, she used a piece of card to paint a door's edge. Instead of using tape, she used the white card sheet as a border against the door frame so that she could paint it without worrying about getting splodges on the wall.

The clip received 1.3 million views as well as thousands of likes from impressed TikTok users. Some took to the comments to share their thoughts about the hack.

Taking to the comment section, one person said: "Love this hack so much easier." Another added that it's the "life hack of the year".
