Time for Rabbits to claim first victory -- Teguramori

BG Pathum United players take part in a training session.

Former champions BG Pathum United will be eager to pick up their first victory of the new season when they take on Thai League 1 first-timers Lamphun Warriors on Friday.

Pathum missed the start to the league as they were away taking part in the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League in Japan, where they exited in the quarter-finals.

They started the season with a 1-0 loss at Chonburi and then squandered a two-goal advantage to let hosts Buriram United salvage a 2-2 draw last weekend.

Pathum United coach Makoto Teguramori is expecting a response from his men in this evening's home game, which kicks off at 7pm.

"We are now looking forward to the match with Lamphun and I expect a better result.

"We should have won our last game [against Buriram] but we lost concentration towards the end of the match.

"We must pick up our first three points of the season at our home ground. We are lucky that we don't have any injured players."

Captain Sarach Yooyen also expects an all-out effort from the Rabbits but warned his players against underestimating the Warriors.

"We haven't done that well in our first two matches and have only collected one point so far.

"We need to improve several things and the staff coaches are working on it, but the players understand our weak points now.

"We cannot underestimate Lamphun. They are a good team and their coach Dusit [Chalermsan] has coached us in the past -- he knows the strengths and weaknesses of our players very well."
