Arsenal have been involved in the club's largest summer rebuild in recent memory.
Technical director Edu has brought five players into the squad, spending north of £130million, the most of any team in the Premier League.
Still, the Gunners don't appear to be done yet as they look to offload several fringe players in the closing days of the window in a bid to raise cash for any names that may become available at the last minute.
However, one player that doesn't appear to be on his way to the Emirates Stadium is Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.
football.london revealed back in January that Bissouma was highly admired by the north London club and a close friend of the Mali international told football.london that he 'loves the Premier League' and would choose to join Arsenal over any other Premier League club if they made a move for him.
The Gunners decided to not make a move for the 24-year-old, signing Belgian maestro Albert Sambi Lokonga and tying Granit Xhaka down to a new contract instead, leaving the door open for other sides in the English top-flight to steal a march.
Now, The Express is reporting that Liverpool have made an official enquiry to Brighton for Bissouma, with the Seagulls wanting in excess of £40million for the tough-tackling midfielder.
Many Arsenal supporters have long been calling for their club to pursue Bissouma and a large section of the fanbase took to social media to voice their disappointment at the news. Here is how a select few reacted on Twitter.
@clockend1977 : "Would be disappointed to see Liverpool get Bissouma. Would have loved him at the Arsenal."
@miguelazeez35 : "If Bissouma to Liverpool happens, I seriously will never forgive arsenal for not buying him."
@AFCGuvnor : "Arsenal you snooze you lose: Liverpool have made an opening move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.
@Kinyah_Y : "Arsenal needs an athletic box to box midfielder who can dictate play in the Locatelli mould like yesterday. This team is soft and flaky when Partey is unavailable, which he mostly usually is. Brentford exposed this lack of steel and so did Chelsea. Time for Bissouma Arsenal."
@Pranjalj : "Dont (sic) let Bissouma go to Liverpool Mikel Arteta, I beg you !!! He is an Arsenal fan and a perfect midfielder."
