Timberwolves to be without two key players Tuesday vs. Thunder

The Minnesota Timberwolves will not have Robert Covington and Luol Deng available to play Tuesday night against the Thunder, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Covington has missed the past 26 games for the Timberwolves due to a right knee bruise while Deng will miss his second straight game due to left Achilles soreness. He initially suffered the injury in the first half Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Covington is apparently close to a return for Minnesota after he has been rehabbing with the team’s G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves. Without Covington and Deng, the wing depth for the Timberwolves will be tested.

The Timberwolves have lost three consecutive games and are 11th in the Western Conference at 29-34. Minnesota is coming off of a 135-121 loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday.

While the Timberwolves are expected to be down Covington and Deng, the Thunder will know closer to game time if Paul George will be able to play with right shoulder soreness.

Minnesota is two-point favorites against Oklahoma City.
