Tim Walz slams Trump admin for slandering Alex Pretti while federal agents defied a court order to sweep away the evidence

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is absolutely slamming the Trump administration and forcing us to look at an uncomfortable truth. With the official government narrative collapsing under evidence, accountability becomes the real measure of our democracy. Walz didn’t mince words when describing how quickly the federal government tried to control the story after Pretti was shot and killed:

“The most powerful people in the world, President, VP, Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem narrate to you what you were looking at—that this was a domestic terrorist, crazed, running at law enforcement, with the intent to kill massive numbers of them, sullying his name within minutes of this event happening.”

Walz then stated that they followed up by “closing the crime scene, sweeping away the evidence, defying a court order and not allowing anyone to look at it.”

The Hill reported that the description of Alex Pretti as a crazed terrorist simply doesn’t match reality: he was an intensive care nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital, and a research scientist who chose nursing. Friends noted he was a neighbor, an outdoorsman, and a competitive cyclist. Records confirm he legally owned a handgun and had a permit to carry in Minnesota.

It is disturbing that the administration is just interested in covering up the truth rather than taking responsibility

Pretti’s parents released a heartbreaking statement that put his character into sharp focus. “Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital,” they stated. “Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman.”

Multiple videos captured the encounter, showing that federal agents escalated the situation when Pretti stepped forward to help a woman. He had been recording the situation when they struck and immobilized him. Disturbingly, one officer appears to remove a gun from Pretti’s waist right before ten shots were fired in less than five seconds.

Walz stressed that this is bigger than one tragedy and should be an inflection point for everyone, regardless of their political leanings. He is right, something we are seeing as more GOP leaders are asking for answers. If we can’t all agree that smearing an American citizen and asking us to disbelieve what we see with our own eyes is unacceptable, we have a fundamental problem with trust in government.
