TIM Tszyu wanted to bring a boxing bout to the Hunter and on Tuesday it was confirmed that he will get to fight in front of a Hunter crowd.
Tszyu will take on two-time world title challenger Dennis 'Hurricane' Hogan in what has been dubbed the Steel City Showdown.
Newcastle Entertainment Centre will host the event on March 31, which could be the biggest boxing event in nearly a decade for the city.

Kostya Tszyu, Tim's father, was loved and supported by Hunter boxing fans. Nine of his first 20 fights as a professional were fought in Newcastle and Tim's promoter Matt Rose previously told the Newcastle Herald these family links to the city made it a prime spot for a match.
"Kostya's got a real connection with Newcastle because he fought so often up there and was so well received. And now everyone I talk to in Newcastle, all they want to talk about is Tim and how good it is to see what he has done. Glen's been pushing it and I'm excited about the possibility of him fighting up there," Rose said in 2019.
In September last year Tim's manager Glen Jennings confirmed he was optimistic the rising boxer would fight in the Hunter. Now the Tszyu team have come through with the goods and scheduled the match. The event will be launched at a press event in Newcastle on Tuesday.
