Ever since his freshman season, Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been destined to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft.
Lawrence even acknowledged earlier this year that the 2020 season would likely be his last for the Tigers before he made the early jump to the pro ranks.
But at the halfway point of the NFL season, the New York Jets are the only winless team left in the league, making them the front-runners to land next year’s top pick. That may be what prompted Lawrence to be a bit less committal recently when speaking about his football future.
Tim Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner at Florida and a first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos, recently shared his thoughts on Lawrence’s situation, as well as the potential for Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft.
