As with every Tim Tebow post we do here at For The Win, I will preface this with the fact that it’s super impressive that the former NFL quarterback has gotten as high as Triple-A in his pursuit to play professional baseball.
That said, he’s had a really bad year statistically as he tries to catch up with the better pitching there. In 77 games with Syracuse, he’s batted .163 with four home runs, 19 RBI and 98 strikeouts. His OPS is .495, 239 points lower than it was in 2018 when he was in Double-A.
(An aside — four home runs! That’s still incredible!)
And now, there’s worse news. From Syracuse.com:
Syracuse Mets outfielder Tim Tebow will miss time after suffering a cut on his left hand fielding a ball in the outfield Sunday in Toledo.
Tebow has been placed on the injured list, although Mets manager Tony DeFrancesco did not have an exact timetable for Tebow’s return. DeFrancesco said the cut, caused by the ball hitting off his hand, required eight stitches.
“He’ll be out for as long as it takes to heal, get back on track,” DeFrancesco said Tuesday. “It’s just kind of in an awkward spot between his index finger, his ring finger and pinkie.”
Get well soon!
