Tim Tebow had a classy response to getting cut after brutal preseason performance

The Tim Tebow experiment is over. Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer cut the tight end on Tuesday and ended Tebow’s effort to make an NFL comeback. It seems he will never play tight end in a regular-season game.

It’s unlikely he lands on another NFL team after Tebow’s efforts ended up being a bit of a joke in Jacksonville. His 2021 preseason debut was messy, with Tebow struggling to execute a block on multiple occasions. In a clear miscommunication, a teammate also caught a pass that appeared to be intended for Tebow. So perhaps it’s fitting that he was informed of his release, ending the 34-year-old’s overly ambitious comeback attempt.

Here’s how Tebow responded.

Tebow was an NFL quarterback from 2010 to 2015 before temporarily retiring from the league. He then tried out careers in sports media and pro baseball, only playing at the minor league level. That’s how he found his way back into the NFL as a tight end. He joined the Jaguars this offseason with Meyer, Tebow’s good friend and former college coach. It didn’t go how they would have hoped.
