Tim Tebow gear again near the top in NFL sales

May 29--Love him or hate him, there is no denying Tim Tebow is good for business.

Since Tebow signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on April 20, he has become the fifth-best selling NFL player, according to Fanatics, the largest retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise.

Tebow merchandise, which includes jerseys, has been sold to fans in all 50 states during that time, according to the online retailer.

Yes, it has been about two seasons since Tebow played in the NFL, but this is also the guy who had the best-selling jersey in the league before he even took a snap in a game after being drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2010.

The current best-selling NFL player on Fanatics is Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, according to the retailer.

Mariota, like Tebow before him, has the top spot despite the fact he has yet to take a snap in an NFL game, having just been drafted No. 2 overall after playing at the University of Oregon.

Tebow made headlines Thursday after the media got its first look at the backup quarterback while he participated in organized team activities.

"I'm going to compete," Tebow told reporters after OTAs. "I'm going to do it with joy. I'm going to get better, and then whatever happens, happens."

Tebow, who also played for the New York Jets before being cut by New England during its 2013 training camp, is one of four quarterbacks taking part in the Eagles' off-season program.

The three other QBs are Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley.
