"I am so humbled and thankful to be able to receive this blessing, being inducted into the Ring of Honor," Tebow said on the school's website. "I know in my heart that I truly couldn't have done it without amazing coaches and teammates who loved and sacrificed for each other so that we could accomplish our goals.

"Loving Florida wasn't just something I did for four years, but it has been a lifelong passion. I want to thank the University of Florida and all the fans for making Gator Nation so special. I was born a Gator, I played as a Gator, and I'll always be a Gator!

"God Bless and Go Gators!"

Tebow, 30, won two national championships and the 2007 Heisman Trophy during four seasons at UF. Along the way, he set SEC records for total touchdowns (145), rushing touchdowns (57) and tied for Gators QB Chris Leak for fourth in touchdowns passes with 88.

Among the most decorated athletes in college football history, Tebow now will have a permanent spot honoring him along the top of north end zone portion of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The 18-foot wide and 5-foot high display will join those of Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Wilber Marshall, Danny Wuerffel and Jack Youngblood.

Marshall, a two-time consensus All-American linebacker, was inducted in September 2007 a year after the other four members were put into the Ring of Honor as part of the 100-year celebration of Gators football.
