Tim Tebow accidentally kicked his first base coach in the groin

Last we checked in on Tim Tebow, he was struggling with Class-AAA Syracuse and hitting well below the Mendoza line with no home runs. That hasn’t changed, but Tebow has found a way to make those rare occasions he reaches first base more memorable.

He kicks his first base coach in the groin.

Yes, that really happened.

After the former Heisman Trophy winner reached on a walk in Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bisons, Tebow caught first base coach Benny Distefano in the groin with his cleat. Distefano hunched over in pain upon contact as the entire crowd seemed to notice exactly what had unfolded.

Tebow, though, being the nice person that he is, apologized to Distefano. The kick was clearly unintentional because, well, it’s Tim Tebow we’re talking about here. He also was trying to get loose for baserunning. He ended up scoring on Danny Espinosa’s home run.

Tebow finished the game 0 for 2 with a strikeout, walk and run scored. He’s hitting .156 with a dismal .446 OPS.
