Tim Sherwood believes things are 'looking good for Jesse Marsch' and 'entertaining' Leeds United

Tim Sherwood has praised Leeds United for their entertaining style and highlighted the threat from Raphinha in today’s draw with Southampton.

The former Blackburn midfielder was on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday analysing the 1-1 draw. He believed that Leeds United could have won the Elland Road clash, but said a draw was a fair result.

He then delivered some praise for new manager Jesse Marsch, who he felt has settled things for the Whites. He also singled out Raphinha for some compliments, saying he was the main threat against Southampton.

Sherwod said: “It was a fantastic game of football, end to end. The goalkeepers were busy. Leeds go ahead from Jack Harrison. Raphinha goes down the right-hand side - he was a threat all afternoon - to the byline and he cuts it back.

“It’s a poor hand on the cross from [Fraser] Foster. He just palms it into the six-yard box and Harrison’s the first to react, just studs it over the line, gives them the lead.

“At that stage you’re thinking the momentum is with them. The crowd are on the up and they could have gone further ahead, but credit to Southampton, they got a foothold in the game.”

Southampton’s equaliser came from a free-kick put away by England’s James Ward-Prowse. Sherwood was also asked about the return of Liam Cooper to the Leeds team after a long injury.

Sherwood said: “He did all right and he got through it injury-free. Kalvin Phillips came on. So you’ve got [Stuart] Dallas there now, [Luke] Ayling, Cooper and obviously Kalvin Phillips who came on for half an hour.

"So all looking good for Jesse Marsch. I think he steadied the ship there. Hopefully we see them in the Premier League next year because they’re entertaining.”
