One of the most iconic players in San Francisco Giants history is looking to get back into baseball.
Tim Lincecum will throw in front of team scouts and officials on Feb. 15 at Driveline Research Lab, the facility near Seattle where Lincecum has been working out during the offseason.
According to the Driveline twitter account, teams have already been invited to attend the private session, which will be closed off to media.
Lincecum, 33, was spotted working out with Rockies pitcher Adam Ottavino in December, looking more ripped than he's ever been.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner has not pitched in the big leagues since 2016, when he turned in a disastrous season with the Los Angeles Angels. Lincecum made nine starts for the Angels, getting crushed for a 9.16 ERA in 381/3 innings pitched.
Before his time in Anaheim, Lincecum became a legend in San Francisco. He followed up his two Cy Young seasons by leading the Giants to a World Series Championship in 2010. In nine seasons as a Giant, Lincecum went 108-83 with a 3.61 ERA and tossed a pair of no-hitters against the San Diego Padres, becoming the club's first pitcher to throw multiple no-hitters in the San Francisco era. But after a brilliant first five seasons with the club, Lincecum's career quickly began to go downhill. The Giants decided to part ways with the right-handed pitcher following the 2015 season.
Few pitchers in baseball history have been as dominant as Lincecum was from 2008-11. It remains unclear whether Lincecum is campaigning for a starting role or a spot in someone's bullpen. But given his massive success in the past, chances are there will probably be at least one team looking to recreate that Lincecum magic.
