Tim Krul's cheeky wind-up attempt of Toon fans as Norwich vs Newcastle date is confirmed

Tim Krul admits he's excited to get the season started - especially given the fact that he'll face his former side Newcastle United in only the second game of the campaign.

The Magpies will travel to Carrow Road on August 17 for a 3pm kick-off and Krul, who joined the Canaries in July 2018, can't wait to face his old side.

The Dutchman spent 12 years at Newcastle before leaving for Brighton in August 2017.

In his time on Tyneside , Krul became a fan favourite, and several performances are remembered fondly by fans, including a memorable performance against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Krul signed a new three-year deal with Norwich following their promotion to the Premier League - a campaign which Krul played all 46 games.

Taking to social media, Krul wrote: "Amazing fixtures to start the season .. Easy 6 points .. champions league winners and the mad geordies."
