Tim Krul opens up on Mesut Ozil clash during Arsenal draw with Norwich

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul has revealed he told Mesut Ozil that Arsenal were "lucky" after they equalised from the penalty spot during Sunday's 2-2 draw .

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brought the Gunners level twice at Carrow Road in Freddie Ljungberg's first game as the club's interim boss.

The Gabon international scored his first goal from the penalty spot under controversial circumstances shortly after Teemu Pukki's first-half opener.

Krul initially saved the spot kick but the striker was given another chance to take it after Norwich players were adjudged to have encroached.

Aubameyang converted his second attempt and Krul could be seen exchanging words with Ozil in the aftermath of the penalty.

Krul told Sky Sports after game: "They were just celebrating and I said to Ozil 'you're lucky' because the referee obviously helped them out a lot there."

The Norwich goalkeeper, who had been attempting to distract Aubameyang before the penalty, added: "For me, the job is to get in the striker's head and make him doubt himself, especially at home when you have the crowd behind you.

"I took a bit longer than the referee liked and he gave me a yellow card, rightly so.

"I saved the first one and it was frustrating that it had to be retaken just because one of our players ran into the box too quickly."

Ljungberg's side were awarded the spot kick after an Ozil free-kick hit Cristoph Zimmermann's hand in the box.

And although he said he was disappointed with the way it was conceded, Krul had no complaints over the decision.

"It's a shame to concede a penalty like that," he added "Obviously I could see him handballing it - I don't know if it was a push or something.

"But it was a shame because we were so solid throughout the game - it was just a set-piece that killed us."

Norwich restored their lead on the stroke of half-time when Todd Cantwell calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner for his second goal in as many games.

However, Daniel Farke's side weren't able to hold on as Aubameyang added his second after the break to earn a point for Arsenal.
