Tim Healy reveals pride in ex Denise Welch as she announces new role

Tim Healy has expressed his pride in ex-wife Denise Welch over her new role.

The Auf Wiedersehen Pet actor and former Coronation Street actress were together for 24 years after meeting while working at the Live Theatre in Newcastle.

They had sons Matt, lead singer of The 1975 and younger brother Louis, before their split in 2012. Both are now re-married, with Denise marrying Lincoln Townley in 2013 and Tim heading down the aisle with Joan Anderton two years later.

The actors have remained firm friends and work together every two years on Sunday for Sammy.

And weeks after he made a funny jibe at daytime TV, which of course Loose Women star Denise is a regular on, Tim has passed on his congratulations to his ex after she revealed she had been made ambassador of mental health charity SANE.

She shared news of the role on Twitter, posting: "I’m proud to announce that I’ve been appointed as the new ambassador for @CharitySANE. I will take my role very seriously and look forward to working with this wonderful team on some important projects."

Tim was quick to react to Denise's good news, responding: "Well done pet, proud of ya."

Denise has also been open about her battle with mental health over the years, most recently in her new book The Unwelcome Visitor, which has now been in the Sunday Times bestseller list for three weeks.
