Tim Cahill explains what is wrong with Everton after loss to Sheffield United

Former Everton star Tim Cahill has opened up on the Toffees' disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United.

It has been a frustrating beginning to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign for Everton, who now sit 14th in the top tier.

Everton drew with Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season before they beat Watford at Goodison Park.

Optimism was high at that point but Marco Silva 's men have only won one of their last four league matches.

The Toffees did well to defeat Wolves 3-2 after a disappointing loss to Aston Villa, with comfortable defeats against Bournemouth and Sheffield United now putting pressure on Silva.

Cahill has since provided his view on Everton's situation thanks to his guest appearance on Match of the Day last night.

The former Everton man explained that it was a lack of creativity which cost the Toffees after a combative approach from the Blades.

“Sheffield United forced Everton out wide. They had bodies around the ball. Anywhere there was danger, it got snuffed out by Chris Wilder’s men," Cahill told the BBC.

“Everton had to play sideways into areas where Sheffield United wanted them. They wanted to show them outside and Everton were static up front. There was no creativity for Everton.

“There were 30 crosses in the games. If you do that you would like to think you could get your head on one of them.”
