Tim Burton is set to make his television directorial debut after signing on to make an Addams Family spin-off for Netflix.
The dad-of-two will put his spin on the eight-part series which will centre around Wednesday Addams and the years she spent as a student at Nevermore Academy.
Netflix announced the news via Twitter by sharing a pretty epic poster for the upcoming series.
The image shows a silhouette of Wednesday, sporting her trademark pigtails, as she plays a cello using a large butcher's knife instead of a bow.
Netflix wrote alongside it: "Tim Burton is bringing Wednesday Addams to Netflix in a live-action coming-of-age series!
"Burton will also make his TV directorial debut on the sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery that follows Wednesday as a student at Nevermore Academy."
The plot will follow the moody teenager as she "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore".
Netflix fans were delighted with the news and took to Twitter to comment.
One person posted: "tim burton wednesday addams tv show this is what my soul has been needing."
Another wrote: "Tim Burton feels like a good choice for this...I hope he does it justice!"
A third added: "I LOVE WEDNESDAY ADDAMS AND TIM BURTON so this is a dream come true! As long as casting is done correctly, it could be amazing."
Perhaps the most memorable actress to play Wednesday Addams was Christina Ricci who took on the role in 1991's The Addams Family as well as 1993's Addams Family Values.
The Addams Family were created by American cartoonist Charles Addams back in 1938, and includes couple Gomez and Morticia Addams, and their Wednesday and Pugsley, as well as close family members Uncle Fester and Grandmama.
The franchise has become a staple of popular culture over the years and has also resulted in a video game series, academic books, and soundtracks which are based around its Grammy-nominated theme song.
