CHICAGO _ Tim Anderson led off the bottom of the first inning Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers with a home run.
It was the start of another big day for the shortstop _ and the Chicago White Sox.
Anderson went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs, leading the Sox to a 10-4 victory at Guaranteed Rate Field. He came within a triple of hitting for the cycle.
Jose Abreu had three hits and three RBIs as the Sox (13-11) won their third consecutive game. Dylan Cease put together another strong start, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 6? innings to improve to 4-1.
Sox rookie center fielder Luis Robert left the game in the eighth inning with right hand soreness. He dove for a ball in the previous inning and was later seen shaking his hand. X-rays were negative, and the Sox said he's day to day.
Robert and Anderson each hit two home runs Monday.
Anderson continued with the power display Tuesday. He led off with the home run to left-center against Tarik Skubal, who was making his big-league debut.
It was the second consecutive game Anderson led off with a home run. He became the fifth player in franchise history to hit a leadoff home run in back-to-back games. Yoan Moncada (April 25-26, 2018), Adam Eaton (June 25-26, 2015), Alejandro De Aza (May 8 and 10, 2013) and Kenny Lofton (July 18-19, 2002) previously accomplished the feat.
Anderson drove in a run with a double during a three-run second inning. Abreu had an RBI single in the inning.
Anderson singled and scored on an Abreu two-run double in the fourth. Abreu is tied with Bibb Falk for 12th in Sox history with 627 RBIs.
Anderson had two chances for the triple. He bounced back to the pitcher in the sixth and knocked in a run with a single in the eighth.
