Tilly Ramsay's Strictly final absence explained as fans angered by snub

Tilly Ramsay has revealed she was forced to miss the Strictly Come Dancing final due to Covid, as fans hit out at the show for 'snubbing' her on Saturday.

Tilly, CBBC star and daughter of Gordon Ramsay, was a notable absentee from the finale especially as he pro partner Nikita featured in the pro number at the start.

The 20-year-old narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter finals, after impressing both the Strictly judges and viewers with her performances, most memorably her Musicals Week routine which earned her and Nikita a perfect score of 40 and a place at the top of the leaderboard.

So it came as a surprise that Tilly not featuring in the group number of all the past contestants wasn't even acknowledged by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Tilly took to Instagram to reveal that she had to miss out on being there, after contracting coronavirus, before giving her best wishes to the couples in the final.

However, even with that in mind, some fans felt Tilly warranted a mention during Saturday's final, having been such a big part of the series.

One took to Twitter to rant: "Think was appalling that Tilly was not showcased even if she couldn’t record something you could have had Claudia and Tess do a minute on her. Understand Robert didn’t want to be mentioned but Tilly was such a massive part of strictly this year"

In agreement, another tweeted: "Of course #SCD should have mentioned Tilly. Shows how self-centred, superficial & selfish the people who run #Strictly @bbcstrictly are," and a third reacted: "Tilly: Dead to Strictly."

Saturday's final was won by Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Fletcher, who beat John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.
