Tilda Swinton, Olly Alexander and Josh O'Connor among celebs donating lots to Gaza charity auction

Fancy a bedtime story read to you by Tilda Swinton? Or a perfect porridge tutorial with Josh O’Connor? How about being serenaded with your favourite song by Olly Alexander? Look no further. The Cinema For Gaza online auction promises these and other amazing lots when it goes live next week.

There are a variety of lots to bid on ranging from in-person celebrity experiences to unique Zoom meetings to signed memorabilia from the nation’s best-loved TV shows. Donations come from Susan Wokoma, Paapa Essiedu, Lucy Prebble, Jenna Coleman, Imelda Staunton, Peter Capaldi and many more. Here are our favourites...

For the Zoomers

Actor Tilda Swinton has promised one lucky winner a virtual bedtime story so you can drift off to her dulcet tones. Another lucky winner could rise and shine (remotely) with The Crown star Josh O’Connor as he takes you through his perfect porridge recipe.

Keen astrologers or Sex Education superfans (or both) will be glad to learn actor Aimee Lou Wood is ready to talk star signs for the length of a Zoom call. And Eurovision lovers, get bidding for an e-serenade of a song of your choice from Olly Alexander. Lastly, actor Joseph Quinn – of Stranger Things fame – invites the winner bidder on his lot for tea and chats.

IRL experiences

Actor Brian Cox is giving away house seats to his new show Long Day’s Journey Into Night at Wyndham’s Theatre followed by a meet and greet. Another winner can enjoy free tickets to Robin/Red/Breast plus a post-show drink with star Maxine Peake.

Comedy lovers are in with a chance of winning Ramy Youssef stand-up tickets, meeting him after the show and even joining him at the after-party. Renowned photographer Misan Harriman is giving one winner the chance to feel like one of the celebs he’s photographed (Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Giorgio Armani, Rihanna, Cate Blanchett and Olivia Colman) with a bespoke portrait shoot.

For the collectors

Doctor Who, Downton Abbey and Ghosts fanatics could win signed memorabilia from stars on the shows. Iconic directors Ken Loach and Mike Leigh have also donated precious items, while director and screenwriter Joanna Hogg has given a unique neon light from The Souvenir – Part II.
