TikTok star hilariously shares 7 Derry Girls phrases he's using in daily life

An American TikTok star has shared a video of him incorporating Derry Girls phrases into his speech.

Abraham Piper, who is from Minneapolis in Minnesota, has amassed over 120,000 followers on the app for his blend of observational humour and witty life advice.

One of his newest videos, recorded on Monday, has taken off with viewers in Northern Ireland, as Piper details how he's incorporated phrases from Derry Girls into his everyday life.

In the video, Piper says: "Here's 7 words and phrases I've incorporated into my daily life since binge watching Derry Girls three times in a row.

"And no, I'm not going to do them in the accent because I hate the sensation of being mocked."

Watch the video below:

He then goes through a list of phrases, which include plenty of well known Northern Irish terms, such as "Catch yourself on", "Look at the state of you", "Lovely all together", "Boke", "You're a credit to yourself" "You might want to think about wising up" and "Shift your holes."

The video has proved a hit with viewers from Northern Ireland, with people describing it as "wholesome" and "brilliant."

Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee was among those sharing her amusement at the video, saying on Twitter: "I love this x."

Derry Girls season 3

The video comes as viewers from across the world wait to hear more details about the return of Derry Girls for a third season.

In an interview with the  Irish Examiner earlier this year, Nicola Coughlan (who plays Clare) said that filming had been delayed on two occasions, October and August of this year.

Coughlan said that, due to the fact that scenes in Derry Girls involve actors being in close proximity to each other, filming for the show was proving to be challenging.

She said: “It is hugely difficult. We were meant to film initially in May, then we had a second date set for August. The thing is, with the protocols, it would have meant really compromising on the vision of the show. They love to cram the five of us onto tiny pieces of furniture altogether, so there’s no social distancing there."

Coughlan also added that the cast had been in contact with show creator Lisa McGee, and that they had agreed to wait until they can make the 'best version' of series three.

She said: "Essentially, Lisa [McGee], who created and writes the show, spoke to us about it and we are all in agreement that we want to wait until we can make the best version of series three.

"It is very important to us all so we don’t want to a compromised version. I am waiting every day to hear news and I can’t wait until we are all back together to make it.”
