TikTok star comes 'close to dying' after getting trapped under frozen lake

A terrifying video has revealed the moment a TikTok star almost died after getting trapped under the ice while filming for his channel.

Jason Clark, a TikTok star with over 415,000 followers, attempted to swim under the ice on a frozen lake in Utah.

While he initially started strong, he quickly became disorientated, and struggled to find the hole he’d made in the ice to get out.

He explained: “I have never been this close to dying. I didn’t think my eyeballs would freeze so quick.

“The surface of the water where the hole was didn’t look any different than the bottom of the ice. When I flipped around and felt solid ice I thought I was at the hole.”

When Mr Clark realised he wasn’t at the hole, he decided to follow the dust that he’d kicked at the beginning.

However, the dust had drifter, and led him even further away from the hole.

He said: “I then tried to break the ice with my back, you can see in the video. I don’t know what made me turn around one last time.

“I was so short on breath I couldn’t really see anymore. I had accepted that was it and I wasn’t going to make it.

“I swung my hand at what I though was just a lighter spot of ice and my hand came through. I then got a ton of energy to stand up. It took 2-3 breaths to regain my vision after resurfacing.”

While Mr Clark’s girlfriend Abby McDonald was filming the incident, she initially thought Mr Clark was pranking her.

He said: “When there are scary moments I joke a lot. She genuinely thought it was another one of my jokes and didn’t recognise the severity of the situation.”

Thankfully Mr Clark emerged unscathed, and even attempted the swim a second time, albeit with a much bigger hole.

He added: “Second attempt went a little better You have to try it twice! Added a little more safety. The exit hole is almost comically big.”
