TikTok star Addison Rae on UFC 'firing' misunderstanding after Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier

TikTok star Addison Rae faced a major backlash from fans after posting photos at a UFC event during the weekend.

The 20-year-old who has over 81 million followers on the social media app TikTok tweeted a photo of herself with a UFC branded microphone saying: “I studied broadcast journalism in college for 3 whole months to prepare for this moment.”

The tweet referred to Addison studying sports journalism at Louisiana State University for three months before gaining millions of followers on social media and dropping out as a result.

The TikTok dancer faced major backlash from fans who slammed the star for taking jobs from qualified journalists.

Victor says: “This is disrespectful to all the people who go to college and work their asses off for jobs like this and sometimes don’t even get them but because Addison has clout she gets them over QUALIFIED sports journalists.”

Cody says: “How does every influencer have zero self-awareness."

Another user commented: “And to think that many people work day and night to pay for a university degree for you to come and take away the job without seeing all the suffering of each journalism student. LMAOO Money fixes everything. I wish I had money and fame.”

However, it turns out that fans just misunderstood the Tweet.

After the backlash, Addison posted another tweet just hours later jokingly saying: “nvm y’all got me fired.”

She then retweeted a post from Barstool Sports which said: “Most hated UFC commentator ever.”

It was later revealed that the TikTok star was at the event for publicity as Rae has a huge social media following and was never there as an official UFC correspondent.

ESPN later posted on their TikTok Addison interviewing Dustin Poirier as the two are from the same hometown at a preliminary event for the UFC 264 match against Dustin Poirer and Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.
